Malwarebytes offers pirates amnesty, free license keys for premium MBAM product

I had a set of pirate keys with me. I added one of them and I got 2 options:

  1. I’m not sure where I got my key, or I downloaded it from the Internet
  2. I purchased my key

If you select the 1st option, you get 12 months of Mbam premium for free!

Even though I had not purchased a key I clicked on the 2nd option and guess what? I received a lifetime mbam premium license for myself :D

I became greedy and set up another virtual machine of Win XP and did the same thing and received another lifetime key. So basically I got 2 lifetime keys. You could try the same and get yourself some keys while this amnesty program lasts.

Interesting, I bet it gets abused.

Not many people know about this I believe and I don't know how long this program will last. More info here: http://www.computerworld.com/article/2941368/cybercrime-hacking/malwarebytes-offers-pirates-amnesty-free-license-keys-for-premium-mbam-product.html

  • I purchased a lifetime license right before they changed their pricing model, but this makes me feel like it isn't worth it anymore, apart from supporting the developers.

"...We’ve grown up, and we’ve got a new licensing system that we’ve rolled out in stages. The only problem is that we have millions of users that we’ve sold keys to, or a reseller has sold keys to, or we’ve given out keys to without keeping track. It is a mess, and you as a consumer have every right to be upset," writes CEO Marcin Kleczynsk. "...I know this doesn’t excuse those who feel cheated because they bought the software. I am happy to work with you on some free shirts, or a free copy of anti-exploit as you continue to support us through this process."

How about asking for some free shirts or a free copy of anti-exploit?

Thats just free promotion, but I suppose one can never have too many shirts.

I had a mix of keys that I paid for, directly from Malwarebytes, some got from a member here, some from a keygen. Converted all fake keys, paid for or not, to lifetime keys. (over 30). + the real keys I have that I have directly from Malwarebytes.

Ps! You don't need one and one computer. You can do all on one computer. Just activate, get the free liftetime key, then deactivate, then write in a new key, then get the free lifetime key, then deactivate, and so on.

What are you gonna do with so many keys? I have around 150+ piratekeys but I never bothered to do this for each. 2 lifetime keys are enough for me.

I use Malwarebytes on every computer and virtual machine I have. And often I forget to deactivate before formating, so then I use a new key. So I have around 20 active Malwarebytes installation just now (all converted to lifetime keys) and then I have 30 in reserve. I started to buy cheap keys after I had paid full price for 10 keys. Then I did not know that it was a keygen out there.

This program is trash, I've had people reporting to me issues which made obvious that it's doing nothing else but collecting information from other trash organizations like spamhaus.

They don't even know what they're detecting, they're also trained to dodge embarassing questions.

It's a proprietary software that has full priviledges on your machine and which is remotely controlled basically just like a RAT malware.

Nah, its one of the best anti malware solutions and infact more powerful than Avast as far as I have experienced using it. Your signature url does not load on my PC by default because mbam blocks it. Maybe your opinion is biased because your site is marked as "a potentially malicious website" by them.

The malicious website protection service is sometimes annoying otherwise its a pretty good software.

So cool..they could've just gone ahead and changed the licensing model to Free, since what they've done amounts to distributing the Lifetime license to everyone.

After converting two keys, the next keys I enter are not being recognized as pirated ones by the software, and it seems to think they're real ones.

I'd purchased a key a year ago, when there was a news that they were stopping Lifetime keys.

It's not accepting any key after one for me :(

And you deactivate before you try to activate a new key?
What version number do you have, maybe they have discovered the "error" and fixed it with a newer version. I have 2.1.8.1057

    @myhken said:

Yap I deactivate that, that is latest version & I believe its same as you.

  • myhken said: I have 2.1.8.1057

That's the latest version. The error could be server-side.

I use the free version very rarely to remove malware. Thanks to whoever supports them. :)

I'm using the lifetime premium license I bought from Newegg for $20 - love Malwarebytes and I use their Antiexploit software too. I use a combination of ESET Smart Security (bought a cheap license off Amazon) + Malwarebytes Antimalware Premium and Anti-exploit - haven't had a virus in years.

Did not understand this offer. Free,free.. Input email address send to them and get rid of marketing spam emails further?

So far this AV not the best on market

No need to send your e-mail address. Just type in the old key you have, then you get a new lifetime key. You will not get it on mail, it just can be seen in the control panel. (so remember to write it down for later).

  • If you select 2 you get a permanent license for free - As they fucked up their keygen (no DB backend to verify) and thus CANNOT see if a generated key is from them or generated.

    @Droidzone said:

Did test now, and it's like you say, you can't activate more then one key anymore.
And I could not activate keys from the keygen at all anymore. So they have done some changes.

Luckily I was early in, so I have my keys.

Well that means two things, first that you're using trash over trash since this program only runs on ms windows and the second, you're just naive.

I have a windows machine which I use to play some games, never ever installed any kind of "antivirus". Never had any issue with that. Told many people to do the same, so far that worked well.

I see that still a lot of education is needed but this is a topic for windows users so I'm not expecting any support from here.

This kind of helped me to figure out that this program is more garbage than just being a proprietary scam. As simple as it is, you can check the pages to see that there's absolutely nothing malicious.

First of all Install malwarebytes then find a fake key from google and enter it and then select second option!

That malicious website protection was introduced at a later stage. People dont use mbam for that feature though. Anyway, your problem lies with spamhaus - https://www.spamhaus.org/query/ip/91.220.163.18?ip=91.220.163.18

Not using antivirus, People like you and I could survive with that but other people who are not careful on windows cannot keep their PC's clean with companies like sourceforge bundling crapware with free software.

That's my point, just collecting information from another trash organization.

I used to think so too, but I've proved myself wrong. However you need to acquire some sort of art of teaching things right.

Malwarebytes has helped me so many times on computers belonging to my friend, family and customers. It really clean the computer for malware.
I used SuperAntispyware before, but Malwarebytes is better to take the really hard malware.

So I can't understand why people think it's a bad software. Maybe because they have never used it before, and never had a computer full of malware, spyware, adware etc that you never get rid of.
