I recommend you use Shadowsocks instead of VPN. Nice day!
I suggest you use openvpn it works great, i have a public vpn with a custom client and it works awesome
I'm currently using SoftEther. How do I add Shadowsocks?
https://github.com/shadowsocks/shadowsocks-android
Do I have to add anything to the SoftEther server first?
Oh hai, necro-spammer.
so in reality it's probably the least ranked and worst, but that website get's a larger commission from them.
which server is best for IOS client (ipad/iphone) ? SoftEther seems to support their native VPN, but OpenVPN needs a client to be installed.
what's the best solution to use ?
you can use softether with native vpn. such as L2TP etc, but also supports tunnels.
On my own CentOS 7 servers I use strongSwan. As iOS now supports IKEv2 out of the box, it eliminates the need for PSKs.
There is even a very handy guide you can follow to get it all setup from start to finish: https://raymii.org/s/tutorials/IPSEC_vpn_with_CentOS_7.html
