That sounds like an excellent question for a ticket, as this is not their helpdesk. I even put money on @Francisco asking you to do that.

  • @Jack said: Haha Tim was wrong!

How can I be wrong when all I suggested to do was put in a ticket as he wants to do something a bit different

  • Any benchmarks of the new location yet? hint hint

I'm going to need to build a bot to get one, always getting released when I'm asleep.

Bench it your self, its super easy using their thing.

I did this earlier when probably everyone and their dog was doing a benchmark. I don't want to rerun it now for the same reason.

  • Running now.

Some Distro's aren't recognising Github's SSL certificate for some reason. Bit of a pain to fix.

  • @Fransisco so is KVM going to get a good amount of stock on Wednesday too?

everyone is running benchmarks at the same time, eh?

  • @fly said: everyone is running benchmarks at the same time, eh?

That is why im not going to use mine for the first day or so :D

I was actually wondering if it'd even be worth trying to use the box in the first week or so that you have it. Everyone will be simultaneously hammering the node with benchmarks.

Sorry, i didn't get an alert (you spelled my name wrong :P)

KVM will get more tomorrow and then the last of it on Wednesday.

There are people that will cancel SJ and move over, so there will be SJ KVM stock too.

Why needed all these numerous repeating tests?
    Especially Unixbench on VPS...
Or performance of the node is a some kind of the constant value?
One time LowEndCertification© for each node at startup needed :)

Hi guys, can you clarify which locations have Ddos protection please? Thanks :-)

  • @risharde said: Hi guys, can you clarify which locations have Ddos protection please? Thanks :-)

    SJ does, NY will soon.

    Thanked by 1Francisco
  • SJ does, Buffalo doesn't.

Thanks guys much appreciated for the quick response :-) wouldn't consider the null route as 'ddos protection' though :-) crossing my fingers to get one in NY :-)

    Thank you :)

@Jack said: Well it does in a way , it has auto null..

I'd count that as 'network protection' more than 'ddos protection'

NY won't be able to tank as much UDP as SJ. We're looking at around 4Gbit peak tanking. SJ can tank more at 10Gbit+ but the SYN protection should be just as good in both locations (well, SJ will be a lot better once the box is upgraded)

    'early bird' continues tomorrow so you'll have a 4AM & 1PM GMT -7 release :)

Ohh... I didn't know it follows the same stock schedule. Thanks for the info!

  • there is no such thing as DDOS protection.

  • Do you see now? Do you see the result of abstinence-only education?

Here's a benchmark of the 128mb OVZ in Buffalo.

    Thanks to @Jack

Maxmind seems to think its in Canada, any better alternatives?

    @serverbear Sending you a 512 KVM one.

  • @fly I don't disagree but it's the most scalable way to show performance between locations for the same host.

True, but who can you name in this community/market that will tank 10Gbit of UDP for you?

I can attest to doing that very thing for a client once before. More than a few people on these forums have used our filtering and while it's far from perfect, we work hard to keep improving it.

Is it as good as a high end staminus/gigenet/sharktech box? No, but you're only paying $3/m and considering I filtered a ~200,000 pps SYN flood the other day for that $3/m, I think the value is very very good. You can go look up staminus and they charge $400 - $800/m for that same level of filtering.

  • Now im waiting some luck for this wednesday, guys wish me luck too!

  • Hi,

I'm trying to understand how many KVM nodes are in Buffalo.

I bought 2 for redundancy but they get provisioned on the same node.

Open a ticket and apparently I can't move to low availability.
Is it only 1 kvm in Buffalo?

    Thanks
