I was looking up this host yesterday:
And uh, they claim they are colocating, etc. I asked them about it, since I suspected they were using Server4You. I did some WHOIS work, and came up with his IP, and saw it was Server4You
Anyway, just like WHT, the mods decided to delete all my posts about him, and slap me in the face.
Could you guys tell me if he's actually using Server4You or not? I checked his IP from his test servers.
Comments
Yes... according to the WHOIS on the IP through ARIN it comes up as being owned by: Hosting Solutions International, Inc.
According To Their Site: http://www.server4you.com/service/kontakt.php They're part of Hosting Solutions International, Inc.
They said,
HostDime and Hetzner are willing to give out IPs (if you give a real damn good reason and I really doubt they are going to ARIN direct) where as Server4You will not.
He is with Server4You.
Daniel.
Thanks. I think I'll PM citric squid about it, since this guy is a huge dick and a liar to his customers.
Have you considered the possibility that maybe they are coloing, with Server4You?
Unless otherwise specified, opinions posted are my own, not those of any person or company I work for
Just ask them for a test IP in their XIOLINK location.
Why would ARIN not offer IPs for game servers ? I mean, ok, the parents might not like resources used for "losing time" on games, but I think this is a bit too much from the arin to play the nanny... M
Because gameservers don't need dedicated IPs, people only used them so that players don't have to type ports every time they connect.
But that point is mood now, since 1.3 Minecraft supports SRV records.
Because game servers don't really need a unique IP address, at least not if the server and client both support changing which port you're using (which any decent game should).
EDIT: Damn, @gsrdgrdghd beat me to it :)
Unless otherwise specified, opinions posted are my own, not those of any person or company I work for
Aha, sorry, I never saw someone even play MC, not to mention set a server. Thanks :) M
Problem with using SRV is that every time a customer orders you have to update the DNS and they have DNS cache so you can't really do instant-setup.
Daniel.
Not really, since you need to setup a new subdomain for every order/server there is nothing to be cached.
@NickM He "says" he colocates at XIOLINK and HETZNER.
I really don't believe this is real. Considering that he lives in New York, and claims he colocates in Illinois, that's 900miles away. Fine, support hands.
At the price he charges, that does not make sense at ALL.
Well consider Hetzner, which is even in Germany. He would have to assemble all the servers in the US and then shop them to the EU which costs a shitton of money.
@lele0108 I saw your thread on MCF before it was deleted. It's sad all you can do is talk shit about other minecraft hosts and too much of a coward to even do it on your lele0108 account but instead flame other hosts on your alt http://www.minecraftforum.net/user/1494907-nomadicderp/ Next time you post things that can cross reference between sites, you should first check your sig on places your posting. Based on your trolling cowardness on alts, imo you have no creditability on what your claiming on this host. Speaking of your sig and being a legit business, tell us Jimmy, why do you run two minecraft hosts? That seems pretty shady to me.. Between two companies offering the same services and you having to flame and try to put down companies you clearly can't compete with on cowardly alts. I'm going to guess your companies sucks balls more then a hollywood hooker on a friday night.
.
Added my own sig line since it was too much work for Vanilla
@gsrdgrdghd Very good point, but who's to say he didn't purchase the hardware in Europe and installing the OS remotely?
@lele0108 you must be pretty uneducated to think St Louis is in Illinois being an American.
Sir, you joined like 3 hours ago, just to flame me? I have more than a couple of hosts on McForum's supporting my claims, including MaxsMCServers, etc.
And it's pretty obvious your the host, so...
And excuse me, are you questioning my company? I only currently work at once company, and I can prove that both companies are solid. Oh, and we don't lie about what provide we use.
Also who cares where they host or co-locate or whatever they do or really do. They don't seem to have any bad posts from customers, so the service must be decent at least.
nahhh, this thread was posted in the MCF thread before for a few before your posts about them was deleted and this site looked cool, so I joined. I joined right after your thread, but this site requires admin accept before you can post.. You really should get over yourself.
Umm...I do? And so should "your" customers?
Let's say McDonalds were advertising they were using real white chicken breast for their chicken nuggets, but actually they were using that pink meat pulp. Sure, it probably tastes the same. But would you happy? NOPE.
So yes, some of us care.
You cant compare mcdonalds to colocated dedicated servers... McDonalds tastes so much better...
Also you ignored both my questions on why are you too much of a coward to flame other hosts on your main to do so on an alt, not to mention multi accounts is against MCF rules.. Also you ignored my question of if your such a legit business to police other hosts, why do you run two companies offering the same service, like I said explain how that is not shady.
Fine >.<. I'll compare it to pie since everybody on LET likes pie. Just substitute the words real fruit and artificial flavoring.
@mindfreak and @lele0108 Fight of the MC companies goooooooooo
Added my own sig line since it was too much work for Vanilla
nahh, I'm not a minecraft host, only a player.
Yet you still ignore my questions. Just proving your a scam yourself and that geek company are legit and your scared of them.. Did they take a bunch of your customers? Your among friends, tell us why your really mad at them.
Why I'm mad? Because your company lies to your customers.
Me? Mad about customers? Lol, nope. Since it takes you like 5 customers to recoup profits of one of mine.
All your evidence you posted on MCForums before you removed it was a bunch of text logs. Not even screenshots. WEAK.
@lele0108 as I said 3 times now I'm not a host.. But then again you think St Louis is in Illinois.. nm, carry on.
and also you still have avoided my two questions. Why do you break the MCF rules posting on an alt nor have the balls to post about other hosts on your main account there and why do you run two companies offering the same service, like I said.. Very shady business practice imo.
Do not insult the pie.
You joined less then a day ago and seem to be the only one arguing.
Daniel.
@MrLawoodle It's nice to see that someone is meeting the OP with questions. Could it be that the OP's post were removed, not because it was bad but since they were posted from a second account? Which was explained, against the rules of that forum?
Or do we have the same issue as we have has here were some providers were accused of having negative comments about them removed?
I guess we may never know.
Daniel.
The Suspense!
Bump.......keep going..
This is getting good!
Thanked by (1): NateN34.
What? I already took measures beyond this thread, and kind of forgot about it.
Interesting it's still on topic. I'd consider it a record.
By the way, it's against MCF rules to post in another thread of another host. So I got slapped with a 7 day post suspension.
Yea, I know right.
@lele0108 yet you still continue to evade my two questions of why you don't have enough balls to post on your main account at MCF when you talk shit about others and why if your so legit and on the up and up to police others, why do you do something as shady as to run two companies offering the same service with both, real shady.. Hell I bet your not even a registered company and more then likely still in high school.
So if we all posted funny stories about you at http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1164806-vortexunit-premium-hosting-1337gb-for-only-10-750gb-free-webspace-free-mumblefrom-350-247-support/ you wouldn't be able to reply for 7 days? This could get fun!
What I find funny too about your thread too Jimmy is members with 1-10 posts all love your service, more of your accounts maybe? Yet anyone with several 100 posts say things like Livechat staff were very un-helpful and abit rude. Wouldn't recommend. or Seems like you got quite a lot of "companies" huh? Like Crod.biz or TheServerBox just to name a few.. Why didn't you continue with those companies?
Speaking of that, why have you gone though so many different company names.... again shady.
Also it is Alpha not Alfa there mr, St Louis is in Illinois.. http://stats.pingdom.com/gejq1i9yvu4w foxtrot doesn't appear to be trotting much either
This is interesting.
Daniel.
Ha
Daniel.
It's called the NATO alphabet stupid.
And unlike your one man operation, I have three staff members.
Alright, a few things:
5.9.223.11 This IP is listed as a test IP for Germany in the first post. It is in a block owned by Hetzner in Germany.
198.136.50.107 This IP is listed as a test IP for Orlando in the first post. It is in a block owned by HostDime.
199.189.87.19 This IP is the A record for creeper.geekcraft.com. It is in a block owned by Hosting Solutions International, the company that apparently runs Server4You, PlusServer, ServerLoft. BSB Service GmbH is a subsidiary of PlusServer AG. Some research using RobTex shows that there is also a common domain startdedicated.com, as well as PlusServer being mentioned. This IP appears to be located at PlusServer's St. Louis location.
Summarizing: The creeper IP is located in a range that is owned by PlusServer and used for their various brands - Server4You, PlusServer, ServerLoft, and possibly others (all of these targeting a different price range with different services). It cannot be determined with certainty what service from this company is being used by GeekCraft (an interesting tidbit is that various other Minecraft servers are found in the same range). The test IPs provided were at Hetzner and HostDime, and may very well be locations that are only used for newer nodes - or, it may all be a fake test IP that does not represent the actual server location. You decide.
That sufficient information?

Damn dude you are slow.. Let me try this 5th time now.. I do not own a company. I saw your post linked from minecraft forum and joined the forum as it looked pretty cool.
@joepie91 I did a reverse DNS look up on the IPs they say are for Fla and Germany and they both do have geekcraft in the reverse, so I feel they are telling the truth on those. I looked at whois records of several domains from robtex and none match anything close to geek. My guess, they are in the same facility as server4you, but they had no idea server4you was also using that facility.
I'm not sure where you have been looking on Robtex (can you provide links?) but the creeper server lives in a range that is owned by the Server4You parent company. That much is clear. That does not say anything about what 'facility' they are in, it simply means that their IP is owned by the Server4You parent company - which, in turn, means they are getting some sort of service from that company. Whether it is with Server4You or directly with the datacenter Server4You is in (which is owned by the same company as Server4You), I don't know.
