Sitemeer introduces multi-location checks

Sitemeer's recently announced new back end just went live a few moments ago.

The biggest change is the introduction of the long-requested feature of geographically diverse checkpoints. Sitemeer will now check a host from a number of different locations and show the respective statuses accordingly.

Another addition in regard to HTTP are slightly enhanced connection statistics, particularly for first and last byte as well as SSL timing. One previous feature unfortunately went missing for the time being, but should be back shortly - generic TCP port checks.

Just as before Sitemeer still comes with full A record support, proper HTTP handling and full IDN compliance.

I hope the new changes are to everyone's liking and will offer an improved insight in case of loading issues with a site.

Thanks for your time and attention

Generic TCP checks are back again.

  • To clarify, it is the tcp:// prefixed check mentioned in the "Help" section (beneath the input field).

You lookup the Domain one time, that is crap when you are using geolocated Sites.

  • Thank you, I have been aware of it. It is not a problem for anycast addresses though. Only if you serve different IPs based on the requesting NS server it could be a minor obstacle.
