About us: We've been in the hosting industry since 2012. Defined Code Ltd is a small company based in the Midlands, United Kingdom. We own our hardware in the Netherlands and have personally visited and installed it in the datacenter we colocate at in Rotterdam, Netherlands (Netrouting). With the dedicated IPv4 plans we are using rented hardware at OVH in Strasbourg, France.

NL Datacenter information: Netrouting is housed in an ex-HP building meaning it has top security. It's a carrier neutral datacenter in Rotterdam with over 11000 sqft of datacenter space, there is 240gbps+ of external network capacity.

Hardware: We currently use HP hardware with the latest Intel Xeon E3 CPUs (v3) in the Netherlands. You should not expect the "Mini" VPSs to outperform a full SSD node, however we try our hardest to deliver a quality you will enjoy for the price. For our dedicated IPv4 VPSs and France offerings we are using E3 CPUs and a PURE RAID SSD setup.

About our NAT IPv4 VPSs: These "Mini" servers do not come with a dedicated IPv4 address, instead they share an IPv4 address and you are assigned 21 ports on it. 1 port for SSH and the rest for whatever you want (VPNs, web servers, you name it!). This means that when you host a website you will have to append a port to the end, these are randomly generated and you can view yours in your control panel.

Good news IPv6 support is now available. We can allocate you native IPv6 addresses as and when you need, just drop us a ticket after you've ordered.

New launch of the 256MB Mini plans (with added bandwidth (!)) and also the final stock of the standard OpenVZ plans. The mini plans in France (featured here) all run on a pure SSD raid setup!

  • Can you do these without the SSD's? To allow for more HDD space?

  • why is the Bandwidth so limited on cheaper plans? ovh dont charge for bandwidth do they?

We can in the Netherlands but we're currently restocking there.

We try to do things differently to other providers. We won't promise you 2GB of RAM when there is 128MB available and oversell the node to a ridiculous extent. The same goes for bandwidth, it's not a case of offering a huge amount just because we have unmetered. We don't want to overload the port and we also don't want to attract dodgy customers (potentially) because of the low pricing coupled with high bandwidth. You can submit a ticket if you'd like a custom plan and I can see what we can do.

  • @definedcode: I think @TarZZ92 was just wondering about bandwidth in the context of there being other LEB hosts that provide similar LES-style NAT servers in FR for a lower price and additional resources.

Luckily we have different providers with different business plans over here so everyone can choose what fits them best.

Also, this could also be a way to upsell customers to more expensive products, since the £2/year can be very attractive, but isn't worth it if you talk about profits for the provider. Not saying this is the case, just a suggestion.

I discussed the lack of PayPal with you in the last thread. We use Stripe because it is made by developers, for developers.

That's possible, we can offer additional resources if you send us a ticket. We just prefer not to over allocate and offer you bad performance. Although I know LES is awesome and Anthony runs a great service.

  • @definedcode For simple folks not matter who made who, they cares about safe payments online without CC on file. You will lost 80% of clients with it.

Ah, the thing with Stripe is we don't have any credit cards on file. Stripe handles the storage of the credit cards and we therefore have none of the customers credit card information (apart from the last 4 digits). It is fully PCI compliant and therefore as safe as PayPal (if not more because disputes are handled directly with your bank/credit card company) and not with a third party (PayPal).

Also I think the loss of clients due to this is personal opinion.

@definedcode I don't talk about PayPal is safest way to be paid, they still in stone age, but for folks its a best way to play with it :)

I'm not sure it's the best way. It may be in your opinion but it might not always be for everyone. Anyway, we won't support PayPal anytime soon.

  • Sounds nice, but where is guarantee if you not disappear after month or two like many other providers who offer bitcoin payments, where no ways to return..

We've been around since 2012. We've only just started posting here. And then you could always use Stripe since you can then open a dispute with your bank/CC company.

  • Our banks not offered chargebacks, its only for US or other countries where chargebacks can be used. :)
