FreeBSD vps

I find it hard to locate VPS providers with FreeBSD support. One could look for the underlying virtualization and hope for FreeBSD support if it's KVM or XEN-HVM, but in many cases this doesn't work, e.g. because the vendor doesn't commit for non-Linux support.

Can you list here your recent experience with VPS providers offering FreeBSD containers?

Here's what I saw:

  • hetzner.de - good performance, uptime, support
  • nqhost.com - excellent performance, uptime, support
  • chicagovps.net
  • edis.at
  • photonvps.com - messy support, stay away
  • arpnetworks.com - unreliable and messy support, stay away

With KVM or XEN-HVM, you should be able to upload and use your own iso image for installation.

Below FreeBSD images available from VPS admin panels.

    EDIS:

    • FreeBSD-9.0-RELEASE-amd64-bootonly.iso
    • FreeBSD-8.2-RELEASE-i386-bootonly.iso
    • FreeBSD-9.0-RELEASE-i386-bootonly.iso

    Prometeus (http://iperweb.com/site/budget-vps.php, http://www.prometeus.net/):

    • FreeBSD-9.0-RELEASE-i386-disc1

Hetzner: did not found any FreeBSD image.

    Other listed: don't know.

You can run FreeBSD under KVM since virtio is supported in 9.0 and later

  • We have it in our ISO library :)

FreeBSD also seen as available for KVM vps's from BuyVM & Ramhost.

FreeBSD recently installed on vps's from Hostigation in North Carolina and Los Angeles.

  • Nqhost sucks

  • I provide OpenBSD by default in all node.. FreeBSD only if my client asking me to add it.. well, "open" sounds better than "free".. that's only me.. :P

Please explain yourself. They have good performance, I had about 6 minutes downtime in 2 years, their support is unusually competent and normally replies to inquiries within 5 minutes.
