Recent BuyVM reseller downtime

edited July 2014 in Providers

I know there was a thread before on LET but Fran seems to have fixed it for a while by replacing the router, unfortunately the issue seems to come back and I was only able to get 98.75% of uptime so far this month.

Is everyone experiencing similar issue?

If you, as a reseller on that same server only had 98.75 % I would guess that everyone else also got that.

It is their reseller hosting (as in shared reseller) through their Buyshared brand.

Good luck serving that material over a shared server.

Their shared hosting server is only in LV I believe.

Just want to make sure the issue is not with my website configuration

Perhaps your best bet would be to submit a ticket with any concerns. The BuyVM team follow up on everything.

Just want to make sure I am not the only one experiencing this (then it could be the issue with my own site).

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed their VPS service a lot and to date I think I have at least 2 or 3 VPSes with them. It was just their shared hosting, for whatever reason, didn't perform up to the expectation I have with them.

Are you using your dedicated IP?

The old primary IP has had outages since it's been getting flooded. We've renumbered users as they ticket. There isn't many left on there.

The node itself is fine and has been serving w/o issue. My ssh didn't drop nor did I have any alerts.

Hi @Francisco, your reseller cPanel IP not have PTR entry, also for my dedicated IP too.
Can you check it? I also have made a ticket 2 days ago about this issue.

    Shared ip (shared01):

ERROR: No reverse DNS (PTR) entries. The problem MX records are:
***.92.***.162.in-addr.arpa -> no reverse (PTR) detected
You should contact your ISP and ask him to add a PTR record for your ips

    My dedicated ip:

ERROR: No reverse DNS (PTR) entries. The problem MX records are:
***.93.***.162.in-addr.arpa -> no reverse (PTR) detected
You should contact your ISP and ask him to add a PTR record for your ips

162.xxx.93.xxx didn't have a PTR because I didn't delegate it from ARIN (woops).

It should have applied last night so make sure you check once more :)

The primary IP (92.2) shouldn't be ever sending mail. All mail should be sending from your own dedicated IP. If you're not seeing this please let us know in that ticket.

once I use the primary IP to send email after that I requested for a dedicated IP.

Now, softaculous shows a free version instead of paid one.

The softaculous thing sounds like it could be my external IP code flagging things incorrectly :( Go ahead and ticket for that as well and I'll adjust my code as needed :)

I am in the 162.244.xxx.xxx range, is that the one you were referring to? Or was it just my own site? I am setting up a ping monitor on that just to make sure it is not my website that goes wrong. Thanks for your help.

Everyone is in those ranges :)

I'll PM you a more specific question.

I have a reseller and I've had 0% downtime all week. I'm on the 162.244 range as well

Could be my own issue, that is what I suspect as well TBH.

Partially :) You'll need to ticket to get put onto your own dedicated IP. Your site(s) are on the shared IP that has been smacked more than a few times.

I'm waiting to find out which site is actually being targeted but nothing yet.

Thanks for your quick response, really appreciate it.

It would be great if BuyVM started offering DDOS filtered IPs for $3/m on their hosting packages, like they do for their VPS's. I would buy one even though I don't get DDOS attack

    That's a bag of insanity.

Leaks happen, even the best filtering out there will always requiring some tuning due to L7 floods.

The last thing we need is the webserver getting smacked offline because 20k pps of a 10M pps flood leaks through.

Maybe at some point we'll launch a sep. ddos protected server but it wouldn't be +$3/month for filtering. We'd likely put starting price around $15/month.

Then again, with fully managed plans coming out on our VPS servers, it'd likely just be cheaper to pay for that w/ cpanel + a filtered.

  • Just wanna say @Francisco has asked me to send in a ticket and the ticket was replied and done within 20 minutes (all the back and forth was pretty much instant). I can not confirm this will indeed resolve all the issues once and for all at this point (although I certainly hope so!) but at least I am very impressed with the ticket responses! They have certainly improved quite a bit since I first had them. Kudos to Fran and Co.!
