Help Please Email question

I am having a strange problem with email. I am running Vestacp and I have my mail setup through zoho, on one of my sites I have a contact form pointing to my email address, if someone fills that out it will not go to my zoho inbox only to the webmail inbox in the vestacp, but if I email directly it goes to my zoho inbox? Has anyone had this problem?

Thanks

Comments

  • I had the same problem when I tried to implement a contact form, except the mail was going to Webmin and not to Zoho. The same thing happened when I tried to use Outlook even though all the MX records were fine, DNS was fine. In the end I had to get rid of the form because it just wasn't working out. Hopefully someone can offer some help!

  • Can you post the headers of the emails that are being misplaced?

@thedarkfox formatted to make it readable and removed your name from mail address - I hope that's fine by you.

    Thanked by 1Silvenga
  • @Spirt thanks, and the emails go to the others just not to the address on my server.

  • Your mail server is using LMTP and not doing an MX lookup. I'm not near a computer, but you'd have to configure your mail server to try to deliver mail externally.

Did you check the exim log? On Debian it's /var/log/exim4/mainlog

  • I am new to this but I am looking here: https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/ch08s05.html.en

at 8.5.3. Configuring the Exim4 Mail Transport Agent
    configure for internet site
Does this seem to be right?

Perfect. Well it appears from the headers that emails are going:

Vestacp > local MTA > localhost

    Rather than:

Vestacp > local MTA > Zoho

If you were using Postfix I would say that mydestination is incorrect, resulting in Exim4 delivering to localhost because it believes that it is the server easydoctorloans.com. Is there a setting in Exim4 that allows specifying the name of the local server @nunim?

However, there are many ways that is can also occur. Like @amhoab said your MTA may be doing internal lookup incorrectly. I would check the logs for more information.

Crap, wall of text. Ummm, sorry but can you PasteBin that (http://pastebin.com/)? Or Gist (https://gist.github.com/)? So we reduce spam and preserve formatting?

  • See if this will work (if you're on Debian/Ubuntu): http://serverfault.com/a/150931 .

    local mail domain

  • remove your domain from /etc/localdomains and add it to /etc/remotedomains

  • Thank you all for the suggestions unfortunately none are working. I am running Centos6 and I have no /etc/localdomains I have located my exim.conf file but not sure what to do from here.

  • search for localdomains and remotedomains in case it is in another location on your system.

I don't see any MX record pointing to Zoho for that domain:

    easydoctorloans.com has address 192.65.xxx.yyy
    easydoctorloans.com mail is handled by 0 easydoctorloans.com.
  • @Nunim just switched it over to a cpanel hosted account. Thanks all for the help
