I just checked, apparently the API says what he just posted.

  • I highly doubt you can push 300TB/mo without triggering any fair-use policy. If so, it's not real unlimited.

Its just "unlimited" 20TB at Gbit and the rest throttled to 10Mbit.

Overages at 1 Eur/TB if you want to keep gigabit speeds. Hasn't this been the case for awhile now? Pretty sure I read this on the server bidding page awhile back.

Well yea, seems just like a marketing stunt, replacing 30TB with unlimited.

    No it is real unmetered

    https://wiki.hetzner.de/index.php/Traffic/en

there is no more throttling to 10Mbit

*Traffic usage is unlimited and free of charge. Please note that our unlimited traffic policy does not apply to servers that have the 10G uplink addon. We will permanently restrict the connection speed if more than 30 TB/month are used (the basis for calculation is for outgoing traffic only. Incoming and internal traffic is not calculated). Optionally, the limit can be permanently cancelled by committing to pay € 1.00 per additional TB used.

    It was always like that.

edit: ok so unlimited, but with 30TB/mo limit. kek

What @Cdoe said. Looks like nothing has changed if the rest of that page is accurate. You can cross the line once and get rate limited, but after that you gotta pay per TB.

  • please F5

i see " Traffic usage is unlimited and free of charge. Please note that our unlimited traffic policy does not apply to servers that have the 10G uplink addon. "

and no "we will permanently restrict the connection speed if more than 30 TB/month are used (the basis for calculation is for outgoing traffic only. Incoming and internal traffic is not calculated). Optionally, the limit can be permanently cancelled by committing to pay € 1.00 per additional TB used."

  • I think they want to say that the 30TB limit is for 10G uplink servers?

That would make absolutely zero sense, as 1G would be able to use in excess of 10 times more at significantly lower cost.

Wondering the same myself too.. 30TB at 10Gbps is bad but 330 TB at 1Gbps is fine?

Seems like limit is for 10G uplink addon?

  • That would be huge if this is true.

  • This is ture, I had a live chat and they confirmed it.

Nothing changed, they still list the limits in that table.

if you hover over the server number in the robot you'll see this:

so obviously unmetered it is already, even for the auction servers and existing services.
the old limit btw was dependant on the monthly charge for your server (20TB/30TB/40TB etc.)

  • So, fake news or not? Any real confirmation by Hetzner staff?

give them some room, they probably just got everything live and want to make sure they updated all occurences before they'll send out an announcement.

lowend-detectives have been faster than that. as usual ;-)

I always choose API's as true source, the API says its unlimited.
    THE API HAS SPOKEN.

Support said that is trully unmetered. Means 1Gbit dedicated unmetered.

  • Yes, this is true, yesterday i had a 20TB cap on my server, today i have not... Which is pretty nice :)

Yeah I know it doesn't make sense... just hoping :pensive:

Maybe someone needs to go ahead and seed a lot of linux isos?

iperf can create some traffic as well :)

  • This would have been the perfect alternative to online.net :disappointed:
