Just for information, it would be nice to list down all the payment gateways one provider supports.

For me, I have to place an order to know what payment gateways they support, in my country Paypal does not work :(

@miTgiB -- to prevent people signing up just to post their offers, rather than wanting to be part of the community first.

While I know many others disagree with this, might I suggest a similar requirement that WHT has, require non-hidden WHOIS for domains? I know some people hide their WHOIS for privacy but as a company you shouldn't hide behind it. Just my opinion of course.

Are the cheap dedicated server offers not allowed?

I'd love to see some info about the 'provider' at least if he's a real company with a tax id, and how long he's been in business as a company.

Additionally, who can post offers? Only providers or also resellers, with a referral code (pls, no!). Last year Linode did a great offer that someone (Dr Mike?) posted on let. Will that be allowed?

I've posted offers that I've come across before. Seems like most of them wind up in the dead pool though. I don't have much good luck with finding good ones.

Takes 5 minutes to get a PMB. (Heck, I use one of the resource centers that I used to volunteer at for my whois) Never saw the need for a hidden Whois.

@marrcomarrco LEA has posted resellers before on the main site. He usually states that they're resellers though although I believe we've caught a couple that has gotten by him.

@fan - you're just looking at it odd :) Check the right hand side of the main index and you'll see categories. The default view is a massive 'group all'.

Well in theory of course they'll be there. We've had a few providers who I wouldn't be sure for them to get their offers in the right place. :)

@miTgiB - yes that was my plan. Maybe not just from the providers, but also other users if they have spotted an offer. And I don't mind current customers leaking customer-only deals :)

How much time I can spend on LEB/LET is really limited as I have work and other commitments. Sometimes I too have missed some great offers. Some good offers were sent to me, and by the time I managed to post them they either have sold out or close to expiry. So maybe an Offers forum would help.

But yes, rules need to be in place to prevent too much spams.

About the 5 post requirement and the 7 days of registration time, it would be good to limit the posts to multiple days (at least on 2 different days) and also that they are quality posts, not crappy posts like "yeah, you're right", "i disagree (if no points are mention)". Otherwise, some hosts could began spaming again.

the availability of native ipv6 should also be part of the offer (I think)

Does this means in case that same offer appear at LET and then at LEB doubled discussion?
If yes I see some potential long term problems here like a lot doubled posts, doubled arguments, etc, etc.. or opposite - some important part, some discovery, some interesting users experience... in one of those two doubled threads missing, etc.

Sometimes appear some really interesting discussion about some host - and now isn't a bit problematic to have SAME interesting popular discussion divided into two places?

I see the first post mentions monthly billing and yearly billing at certain price points. What about quarterly? There are quite a few that require quarterly payments.

I'd like to see a test file from all providers too, but then they'll just go and make sure that the test VPS is on the node with the lowest load...

If you can have them fill out a standard form, some of the legwork you do, like checking if they're behind whois protection, when the domain was registered, if it has adjacent nameservers etc, can probably be automated.

I'm going to make what's probably an unpopular suggestion here but it's not been suggested yet:

Let's make it offer free and not allow them. Considering 99% of the ones listed here were above the price range of a LEB and/or where made from a newly created sock puppet user account, may be something to consider.

Having a link to the Contact/About page on the main site where it states the correct method of making an offer (ie Contact LEA) should also be done.

@drmike The only flaw I see with your suggestion is LEA has said he would like to cherry pick the offers from here to feature on LEB

Could always pull a (Oh what the heck is that index site. I forget the name. Yahoo uses them and Google supported them for a bit.) where if you email them asking where their listing is, they get dropped to the end of the list. :)

This is a great way for I think for providers to be listed, as in my opinion LEB was getting loaded with new providers that may eventually go to the dead pool or the offers were not that great. I think LEB should be reserved for top hosts that have been around for awhile so you know your getting a bang for your buck
