This forum can be used by VPS hosting providers to post special offers for the LowEndTalk community. These are the rules for posting in this category:
Maximum 1 post per provider per 14 days. More frequent than that would be regarded as spams and posts will be removed.
Using a nulled WHMCS grants you a lifetime ban on LowEndBox and LowEndTalk.
Providers under 12 months old need to display valid Public WHOIS information on their domain.
Please be informative in your offers. Please list out basic specifications (amount of memory, storage space, monthly data/bandwidth and port speed), virtualization method (Xen, OpenVZ, KVM, etc), data center location and a test IP would be ideal.
Discussion threads that do not conform to the rules will be deleted, and repeating offenders will have account suspended.

Just for information, it would be nice to list down all the payment gateways one provider supports.
For me, I have to place an order to know what payment gateways they support, in my country Paypal does not work :(
I blog at www.asim.pk
@drmike -- Yup done. Thanks for suggestion. More rules will be written regarding to the conduct on the this community forum (when I get a chances).

So no offer posts during the 1st 7 days?

@miTgiB -- to prevent people signing up just to post their offers, rather than wanting to be part of the community first.

While I know it doesn't pertain to this site much, I'm just throwing my advertising rules from FreeWHT in hopes it can offer some ideas: http://www.freewebhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?12231-Advertisement-Rules
I'm a huge fan of the post + age requirement to prevent spam. I normally do 10 posts + 24 hours for posting links, images, or using signatures but for advertising I do 10 posts + 7 days. Bravo LEA! :)
-Joe @ SecureDragon
While I know many others disagree with this, might I suggest a similar requirement that WHT has, require non-hidden WHOIS for domains? I know some people hide their WHOIS for privacy but as a company you shouldn't hide behind it. Just my opinion of course.
-Joe @ SecureDragon
Thanks for the link. I'll "study" it a bit today after work :)
Edit -- @KuJoe yes it makes sense to have non-hidden WHOIS for actual commercial site where people entrusted their credit card info or PayPal info with.

Are the cheap dedicated server offers not allowed?
@dmmcintyre3 -- At the beginning I did list cheap dedicated servers at $30/month or less. However I found
Yes I know there is still a market for it, and it's something I need to think about. LowEndBox/LowEndTalk wasn't really aiming at filling every space there's a market though.

I'd love to see some info about the 'provider' at least if he's a real company with a tax id, and how long he's been in business as a company.
Additionally, who can post offers? Only providers or also resellers, with a referral code (pls, no!). Last year Linode did a great offer that someone (Dr Mike?) posted on let. Will that be allowed?
@marrco -- good question. If someone from the community found a good offer posted in other forums that fit into the criteria, can that be posted? I would think so, as "sharing a good VPS deal" is quite a community thing to do.
That means I might need to rewrite the rules a bit :)

I've posted offers that I've come across before. Seems like most of them wind up in the dead pool though. I don't have much good luck with finding good ones.
Takes 5 minutes to get a PMB. (Heck, I use one of the resource centers that I used to volunteer at for my whois) Never saw the need for a hidden Whois.
@marrcomarrco LEA has posted resellers before on the main site. He usually states that they're resellers though although I believe we've caught a couple that has gotten by him.
@LEA Is the goal to have all offers submitted in the offers section then cherry pick what you like best to be featured on LEB?
Hostigation High Resource Hosting - SolusVM OpenVZ/KVM VPS
@miTgiB - yes that was my plan. Maybe not just from the providers, but also other users if they have spotted an offer. And I don't mind current customers leaking customer-only deals :)
How much time I can spend on LEB/LET is really limited as I have work and other commitments. Sometimes I too have missed some great offers. Some good offers were sent to me, and by the time I managed to post them they either have sold out or close to expiry. So maybe an Offers forum would help.
But yes, rules need to be in place to prevent too much spams.
Blog at LowEndBox.com.
@LEA Great, I was seeing how this was playing out and that struck me as a great idea, and you've added some more benefits to doing it that way as well, should turn into a success for everyone.
Hostigation High Resource Hosting - SolusVM OpenVZ/KVM VPS
About the 5 post requirement and the 7 days of registration time, it would be good to limit the posts to multiple days (at least on 2 different days) and also that they are quality posts, not crappy posts like "yeah, you're right", "i disagree (if no points are mention)". Otherwise, some hosts could began spaming again.
Hmm - would this replace the system whereby you emailed contact @ [leb].com ?
LoomHosts VPS Servers | Reliable, Affordable, Solid
Does this means in case that same offer appear at LET and then at LEB doubled discussion?
If yes I see some potential long term problems here like a lot doubled posts, doubled arguments, etc, etc.. or opposite - some important part, some discovery, some interesting users experience... in one of those two doubled threads missing, etc.
Sometimes appear some really interesting discussion about some host - and now isn't a bit problematic to have SAME interesting popular discussion divided into two places?
Tim, how is Life treating you today, buddy?
I see the first post mentions monthly billing and yearly billing at certain price points. What about quarterly? There are quite a few that require quarterly payments.
I'd like to see a test file from all providers too, but then they'll just go and make sure that the test VPS is on the node with the lowest load...
If you can have them fill out a standard form, some of the legwork you do, like checking if they're behind whois protection, when the domain was registered, if it has adjacent nameservers etc, can probably be automated.
I like the standard form. A standardized posting results in a better apples to apples comparison.
Signatures are to identify who I am. I'm me. Who the hell are you?
I'm going to make what's probably an unpopular suggestion here but it's not been suggested yet:
Let's make it offer free and not allow them. Considering 99% of the ones listed here were above the price range of a LEB and/or where made from a newly created sock puppet user account, may be something to consider.
Having a link to the Contact/About page on the main site where it states the correct method of making an offer (ie Contact LEA) should also be done.
@drmike The only flaw I see with your suggestion is LEA has said he would like to cherry pick the offers from here to feature on LEB
Hostigation High Resource Hosting - SolusVM OpenVZ/KVM VPS
@drmike @miTgiB Indeed. One of the reasons of a low end offer forum is because I myself is not that scalable. Been very busy lately and I only want to post 1-2 offers per day max. However I have been flooded with requests, repeated requests, emails asking why their offers haven't been made on the blog, and emails saying my delays of listing their offer is jeopardising their business! LOL

jtodd said: Why not be more selective and reject offers from companies with poor reputations for example?
Could force anyone posting to post a company registration proof from the CoC/equivalent, but anything past that is kinda subjective/relative
I still like this idea: http://www.lowendtalk.com/questions/12173/new-leb-feature-suggestion-deadpool-probability
Maybe a way to incorporate that idea into the offers section?

ODP - Open Directory Project
That's the name of the folks I was thinking of.
Could someone let me know why my offer thread was removed?
"Please be informative in your offers. Please list out basic specifications (amount of memory, storage space, monthly data/bandwidth and port speed), virtualization method (Xen, OpenVZ, KVM, etc), data center location and a test IP would be ideal."
This is my guess jtodd.
-Joe @ SecureDragon
@jtodd -- I think with a single link to your website is not something informative and allows the members here to discuss your offerings.
Blog at LowEndBox.com.
No worries. I thought the link was best as it has everything nicely presented there, but I'll write out a proper ad for the forum :)
+1 for any offer outside of the normal LEA requirements to be deleted on sight. :)
edit: That's not directed towards jtodd. Just saying...
Question: I had 100 karma and lots of posts and membership days on the old OSQA. Can I pst a free offer aswell?
I have now VPS. Thanks to the ones that made it possible!
Discussion threads that do not conform to the rules will be deleted
Just to clarify since some forums don't allow this but if we see issues or concerns (or downright fraud) with an offer, we're allowed to point that out, right?
This is a great way for I think for providers to be listed, as in my opinion LEB was getting loaded with new providers that may eventually go to the dead pool or the offers were not that great. I think LEB should be reserved for top hosts that have been around for awhile so you know your getting a bang for your buck
ChicagoVPS.net - OpenVZ/Xen Based / SolusVM Control Panel / Great Support!
I think somebody else mentioned it already somewhere, but I like the idea of providers posting here and LEA picking what he decides to be LEB-worthy.
